not much.. Im sure getting rid of the cats prolly help improve throttle response somewhat, but you want get very far on teh exhaust untill you replace the stock manifold with a header. if you want a few cheap easy mods replace your feul filter and run a search on mechanical secondaries and removing rats nest.

You WILL get a few moe ponies from ditching the stock cats with a straightpipe. How much depends on how bad the cats were plugged. As to your question about gains from removal of the smog equipment. No. Nada. Not much if anything at all. About all ya get are less hoses to eventually crack and cause vacuum leaks and a much nicer engine bay.

Here is a direct quote from Felix's website:
How do I remove my air pump?

Reasons Not To Remove It:

It may be illegal, depending on where you live & drive
The amount of power it consumes is small
Can cause a HP loss, depending on the year
Can increase backfiring
Can cause rough running
Very commonly causes belt squeal
May accelerate death of catalytic converter
If you use your car where emissions aren't a concern, then you probably are looking for more available HP or you wouldn't be asking the question. With NA engines, exhaust modifications are usually the best foundation for a HP boosting program. The instructions for header installation should provide instructions for air pump removal.
Just thought this might be useful, as you can see, if you aren't getting a header... it is pretty counter-intuitive (except to clean up teh bay) to remove it.

Zach is right- If you're not doing a header, then leave the pump on and belted.
However, for under $800, you can get the RB long primary header package which will make you feel like your cars been someones beyatch! Your car will feel instantly caffinated! (about 20 HP! )
