you work for a Nissan dealership right?
I am about to sign up for a Nissan class, how do you like there ways of doing things? |
Nissan has been really good to me so far. They seem to be very solid vehicles, and they are straight forward to work on. The amount of Nissan's are dealership moves is just unreal, and they of course all come back to be serviced so the work is very steady.
Worst part is probally all of the VQ25's that need to be replaced due to oil consumption. At the same time, it's good experience being in a shop that is doing this kind of work. Just doing oil changes all day you become a drone, need a good variety of stuff to keep the job interesting and challenging. |
I'm glad some of my stuff went to a good home. she's looking pretty mean Dan.
|
Keep the entire S5 rotating assembly, go with the 3 window bearings and do all of the oil mods you can. If you want to go all out, balance the assembly, raise the redline and go with a larger A/R.

https://img70.imageshack.us/img70/2900/miata2dl4.jpg Dan stay with the S5 rotors. On the other hand, I'll take them if you aren't going to use them. :) |

I'm 19 also and am just getting around to putting another motor in my two week old SE. I've finally started making bling and am back home at the 'rents house after a year of being on my own so hopefully I can follow in your steps with a sick project like that. I make about $15/hour and get hella crazy overtime pay. Holidays are nice. DOUBLE TIME AND A HALF! :D |
man , its really comming along nicely dan!

Looks really great Dan

Also at the same time the S4 rotating assembaly is heavier (figured a Streetlite flywheel would help offset this), but I think I may still go that route. A local engine builder (has built multiple TII engines with similar horsepower goals in mind) recommened I go the S4 route from experience. Either way, I'm sure the rotors I will use will not be holding my car back as both series have there advantages and disadvantages. |
Choice is your's Dan. Let me know what you plan on doing with the S5 rotors and counterweights. Btw, which part of Canada are you in? I've been debating about doing a bit traveling to meet up with some other members when I deliver the shell to Sam, just east of Detroit. PM me with your addy if your are anywherenear there or Jon's location.

Where did you bought those headlights that you are using?
I'm building me an FB my self here in Norway, and I'm thinking of getting me that kind of headlights for my car.. I hope you can give me an answer.. Sorry if I'm bad in English but as i said, I'm a norwegian. |
No worries man. What you said made perfect sense. I would also like to know where those were purchased. :)
And hey, you seem relatively new what with only 6 posts. Just want to extend a welcome to the darkside... and if I'm repeating anyone then oh well. Welcome again! :) |

dan, the project is coming along nicely. im surprised to see youre 19. i just didnt think that. im 19 as well. turning 20 in a couple months. im not trying to go forth with a project anywhere near the magnitude you are. im making what looks to be the exact same pay as 84rx_seven and i live at home with the folks. hell, free room and food. cant complain. im cooking up something though that should be rather nice but ill catch a heck of a lot of slack for. now hurry up and get this thing running!

dan, I like what you are doing, I'm 19 yr old too. Its impressive to see what you are doing with your car.
I'm building me a Rx for my self. I use suspension and steering from a Rx7 FC and the engine and gearbox originaly belongs to an FD. The car will get a Grp B rally widebody-kit... I dont know what to do with the front end of my car, but have been thinking of some headlights like those you have. And the rest of the front i maybe create my own with composite. |
Very Nice Dan!!!!
|
Dan have you thoughts about purchasing ceramic seals? Would help alot of the detonation issues. I know they had a group buy not too long ago and might still be effective. Something maybe worth while investing in. Just a thought

it's all about ability to drive, availability, where you work, and expierence. I started at 14 making 5.25/hour being a bag boy, then I went to a hardware store and made up to 7.30/hour there, my next job was a temp. during the summer with the USPS at 11/hour, and now when I'm home on breaks I make 10.44/hour at Lowe's, and 14/hour at an internship. |
excellent work dan! keep us posted, i too would like to know where you got those flush mounts.
