Well ishmayal first I would start with a full tune up, change all your fluids, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, new air filter, new oil filter, new fuel filter. Then from here I would look at racingbeat.com to get exhaust you are looking at about $800 USD for the full system. The exhaust is the best place to start them from there move on to the intake, you have some choices, I recommend trying to buy a aftermarket carb on the classified section on this site. You can use a downdraft or a sidedraft type carb, Weber, holley, mikuni, dellorto are a few of the brands of carbs you have to choose from. Then I would say if down the road you still want more power and your engine is reaching the end of its life I would say to port it. Another thing to keep in mind is with an aftermarket carb/intake you need to do work with the fuel system, this includes getting a fuel pump (most recommend the carter) and a fuel pressure regulator (most recommend the holley 0-4psi regulator)

Porting is the process of enlarging the holes of the intake and exhaust in order to flow quicker and sooner in the engines cycle. Porting is the equivilent to getting a different cam shaft on a piston engine. But when you port a engine you have to have the engine disasembled and you might not want to do this yourself if you don't know much about the rotary engine, but this is a good time to rebuild your engine since it will all be appart. With a 12a engine Ported, Racing beat exhaust, and a good intake you will be able to hit around 200hp.

Modifying an RX7 is very fun and satisfying as long as you take time to learn all the things it has to offer with the unique engine design, if you are not afraid to spend some money and to learn lots of new things go ahead and get started!

Good luck!

EXHAUST - go with the racing beat full exhaust (www.racingbeat.com)
CARBURETOR - if you are on a stockport 12a, go with the racing beat 465cfm holley (www.racingbeat.com) but if you are gonna port, you might wanna look into a weber sidedraft or a bigger holley (maybe 600cfm depending on the port)
INTAKE - racing beat high rise intake (www.racingbeat.com) its made for a holley carburetor
PORTING - ooooooh boy, you need to have a looksy at www.nopistons.com, then go to the porting section of the forum. If you are looking into porting, you are gonna need to pull apart your engine and most likely rebuild it. (also take a look at my sig...that is my porting on my engine...a 1/2BP 12a)

I bought the soft seal rebuild kit...they sell for like $120 on ebay...it came with all the exterior gaskets and some small internal things. I also ended up buying new oil seal rings, corner seal springs, apex seal springs, and corner seal plugs. Altogether i spent around $200, which isnt bad considering i will have a rebuilt 1/2 bridgeported 12a

And i only spent $70 shipped on the kit that i bought...it was a steal.
