Painting Restoration on GSL-SE (pics)
This project has taken us over 5 weeks now. My dad and I put about 60 hours of prep time into the car but its begining to seem worth it. I realize that there has been quite a few of these threads lately but I felt I had to share what has consumed so much of my time and sanity.
We rented a booth and my dad painted it himself. There was a thirty minute drying period between the base and clear coat, afterwhich we baked it at 145 degrees F.
All in all the final cost came out to be about $750 Cdn.

I'm about to wet sand a car I've painted for the first time in a few weeks... up until now the finish has been smooth enough to not need it (racecars dont tend to keep their paint for very long...)
Looks good! I'm always pleased when there are threads where people paint their own cars. Whether or not it's cheaper than taking it to Maaco, it's always inifinitely higher quality than the crap those places roll out.

Okay, here are the latest pics that I've taken today. The car is mostly re-assembled accept for the trim around the windsheild (since the old clips that held them in place all broke and I need to order new ones) and a few of the emblems (haven't cleaned them yet). Also I haven't waxed the car, I'll probably wait till I have a free weekend for that.
