you can buy car paint from any local car paint shop ,90% of the job is prep ,it is a must that you clean the surface of all contaminants ,after you clean them take a torch and heat them up to burn off any oils that may have stayed. and just paint 'em with any high temp paint of your liking. heat them ONLY IF THE MOTOR IS TORN APART DON'T EVEN TRY IT IF THE MOTOR IS STILL IN ONE PEICE you will melt the seals .good luck

i know this is an old thread..but better than making a new one.

For you guys that have painted your motors...did you paint the block after it was together or did you spray the pieces seperately?

I've done both. Look and feel is better if you do it beforehand. Instead of masking, I use some junk housings. Put the dowel pins in and tap the housing down. Saves a bunch of time, I masked the swept surface once and it took forever to apply and cut the tape off. I use a prepaint cleaner and degreaser then sand and use the cleaner and degreaser again. Works like a champ, never had a problem (except when I used Rustoleum).

Primed, baked, primed, baked, paint, baked, paint. Yeah, it was baked over a hot asphalt during the 2003 LA Wildfires.
