Painting black trim
Hi guys,
I am thinking of spray painting the black trim along the sides of my car (it is pretty bad and restoring products didn't work) but one of my teachers who used to have an rx-7 said he did it and the paint lasted about a week (i'm sure he was exagerating). I was wondering is there a product that I can coat the paint with afterwards to stop it flaking and wearing out.
Thanks for any help guys.

depending on the color of your car sometime making them chrome looks good. I used like 120 grit sand paper and sanded all the black off, then I sanded them with 400 or so, now they are shiny... It took me like 10 hours to do tho, i think it looks pretty good now

You're teacher is a moron. ;-) *jk* I painted mine last year and they look great. The trick is in the preparation.
I taped everything off and then sanded all of the moldings with 200, then 400, then wet sanded with 600 grit paper. I put about 2-3 coats of black paint on followed by 2 coats of clear. Looks great. Took a weekend to do. Use quality gloss black paint.
I was using the "Forever Black" product on my car for the previous two years, but the effect only lasted a day or so. (or until it rained) Now I used carnuba wax to clean the molding.
