Talking Painted motor

Anyone out there have any helpful tips on the bast way to paint these 12A's?

I am doing an engine swap tomorrow and I figured while I got the motor out I'd paint it with some high-Temp engine paint to spice it up a little.

I got 1200 degree engine paint(red and silver) and wondered if anyone knows the best way to do it.

If not, I'll wing it!!

Thanks peeps.

Tape it off I guess. Most painted motors are a result of a rebuild were the housings and irons can be painted seperatetly.

Taping it would be your only solution. Granted it will not look as good as painting it when taken apart, but it will be painted, I guess.

depending also on the paint you use the parts have to be cooked at high temps like powder coat because of ceramic that they put in the paint taping off is not that hard if you do it right use a hammer to tap on sharp edges like the sides of exaust ports and intake ports but be sure to use very little pressure i think youll be fine and repost pics of your progress

Punctuation man! I had to read it 3 times... I don't get what you need the hammer for?

Might need more than a day to fully cure though. 1 day is rushing it.

Sorry, Is this Better For You I was Rushed and wanted to post Quickley. The Hammer is to help cut tape when your in areas that you dont want to scratch like an intake. If you take masking tape and cover over areas like intake ports and exhaust ports then you can tap a hammer around the beveled edge or sharp edge if you like cutting the tape without using a razor and scratching the hell out of the motor in the process. Im sorry if i seem iritated cause Im not just posting what I do to make things a little more easy.

Since the engine is already together, an xacto knife will work best for trimming tape. When the engine, (not motor, it's a combustion engine, motors are electric), is to have some sort of finish, I prefer to powdercoat, even though it's a lot more work and expense. Whatever method you use for a coating, cleanliness and prep work are the key. Doesn't matter how expensive the final coat is, if there's any contaminants, oill, chemicals, etc, the coating will not last. Fwiw, reds fade more than any other color due to heat.
