Going to get my car painted sometime before sevenstock. What type of paint should I use? base/clear coat of enamel?

You want a urathane based paint from a quality manufacturer such as PPG. Urathane paints dry faster and are more durable than a typical acrylic or enamel.

Purple82 is 100% right... urathane base in the way to go... I've been painting cars for a long time and I've never had a problem with PPG.

My blue rx7 is PPG acrylic base coat and no clear coat. it has held up pretty well but i would strongly reccomend a clear coat to reduce scratching, damage and oxidation of the base coat
