Paint Codes

I was wondering if anyone has the paint codes for our first gens.

What does k8 mean?

And if I want to repaint my car, how do I go about getting that paint? Do I have to goto a dealership or something?

Sorry, I'm a newb here when it comes to this stuff. Any help is appreciated though.

The color is Tornado Silver Metallic Clearcoat. I bought my paint from these guys:

http://www.paintscratch.com/

They have a great selection of 1st Gen paints...

Good luck!

According to Rotorhead.ca, paint code K8 is Tornado Silver (metallic with clearcoat).

Try checking for more info here: http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/fo...car_detail.cfm

Awesome, thanks alot guys.

How much paint do you think I'd need for the header panel? And what should I get? Should I go with Single Stage? What's the difference.

Once again, 20 year old with no clue with paints for car. heh Help is greatly appreciated.

By the way, do you think it's even worth it to work on this panel anyway? Should I just buy a new one and paint it? Or sand this one down and paint it.

Looking at it in person tells me to buy a new one on ebay.

God I hate bras (and you can take that anyway you want).

It depends on how perfect you want to be - you can buy those panel new from Victoria British. If the cancer's not that deep, you can usually clean it up with minimum body work. If it's through the metal, you have a whole 'nother set of problems - might be worth replacing.

There's one on eBay now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2427079325

Anyway, I'm not a paint expert - but I ordered my color premixed in a spray can (with flex agent added) for my sun faded bumpers. I sanded them, taped them off and sprayed away... They turned out great. Put a nice clear coat on it and I was good to go...

Yeah, the bra is only on it because the of the rust underneath. I think the guy who had it never took the damn thing off to clean underneath so the paint just kinda rotted away and now the metal is about had it.

So I leave it on as kinda of a protection from further damage to the thing already. Plus it looks a bit better instead of having the rust showing.

Once I get the new panel, I'll will be taking the damn thing off for good though.

By the way I'm currently bidding on that item. However, if anyone wants to give me a spare one, you're more than welcomed to. heh Or if you prefer, I can pay ya too.
