page 64, victoria british, question
on my 85 gsl, there is a pair of pick up coils under the dist cap, does anyone know what the gap should be,,mine were kind of rusty and i fine sanded them a little,,,,are they like the older "points" that we used to mess with.....

Right on.
Those are the rotor and stator assemblies, they aren't anything like points. As the vanes on the rotor pass through the stator's magnetic field they produce a pulse which goes to the ignition modules (ignitors) where the pulse is amplified and sent to trigger the coil. If the car is running ok, the air gap is probably satisfactory. A little bit of rust on them shouldn't affect their operation. -WG
