overheating,power drain.........after replacing battery cables

I have a 83 GSL and i had it for a good 5 months....since then i replaced the altenator, battery, the starter, and a full tune up.
After changing the starter my car ran fine for about three days, and i go to my buddys shop and turn off the car for no more than 10 min and i come back to start it and it just clicks.....after messing around with the battery cables it turnned right on....so the next day it did the same thing so i put a old starter on thinking it was that and it did the same thing and clicked.......so after i was ready to kill my self i decided to clean the battery cables and it fired right up.....again it happens so i said thats it and i bought new cables.....after putting everything back together like it was i took it to work about 5 miles and it started to overheat......after i got out of work i got in took of and i was at 9 volt and it overheated again....

my question is what the hell is wrong with it?....am ready to shoot myself HELP!!!!

this is strange...

maybe your battery is pooched, or your gauge cluster. (the latter unlikely)

i dont suppose you removed your thermostat, did you? that would cause overheating... or it coulda failed.

Yeah i checked all the wiring from the battery to the starter and everything is hooked up. I got under it this morning checked all the wiring and everything its hooked up but i go to start it and it wont start. I checked if there was spark, and it does and it wasn't flooded. I dont know what the hell is going on i even try to jump start it and i got nothing....it cranks but it wont start......i hope its not the motor please let it not be the motor!
