Over Rev Buzzer? Or is my RX-7 tone deaf?

Ever since I bought my SA22, I have always gotten this loud *** noise as soon as I charge the battery.. Then, say I flip the head lights up, or turn on a blinker.. The RPM needle will hop around.. Now, reading up on the over-rev buzzer, I have reason to believe it may be the over-rev buzzer malfunctioning.. Any ideas on how to shut it up?

well... This buzzer is controlled by the computer...which also will let you know if your low on coolant, oil... all those good things... Now- You can cut the wire that leads to the buzzer... However I would not suggest it.... If you have these idiot features... is this one of the 13B cars? Fuel infected?

Heh, yeah, I definitely would like to keep the wiring.. But it's a 12A, carbureated. But I guess it's time to check the engine's lubricants and all that good stuff, thanks for the tips.

It sounds like you may have an electrical issue, or grounding issue of some sort. The source of the noise though, is most likely the oscillator which is located in front of the battery. It is a little black box that plugs in just like a relay, and is bolted to the body in front of the battery. You can disconnect it and the car will still run fine, you just won't have any audible warning for oil pressure, water level, etc. They will often start screaming when they get wet. Mine has been disconnected for years now.

Might be the oscillator, a little black box up behind the left headlight. Unplug it, if the problem goes away, it's fixed.
