Out of storage/what i learned (pics)
I pulled the '85 SE out of storage this weekend and took her to my brother in laws shop to do some neglected maintenance on it. Fix coolant leak, change belts, change fuel filter, replace clutch slave cylinder, and put some royal purple gear lube in the diff. I have learned some valuable lessons the hard way.
First, when you pull the pet **** out of the radiator the coolant will shoot out with such force that it will impact the front engine mount and splash everywhere BUT the drain bucket, including your eyes and mouth.
Second, while a napa gold fuel filter works just fine it's a hell of a lot easier to get the denso filter from a dealer with the bracket already attached to it.
Third, the oil injection lines are hooked to the coolant inlet under the air pump, for the love of all that is holy be careful when prying the air pump back into place to tighten the belt to not hit them. I didn't, but came damn close before I noticed.
Fourth, do not ever buy vital parts from victoria british/black dragon. I didn't get a crappy cell phone shot of the slave cylinder I pulled out, but let me assure you it was pure rust and leaking.
Lastly, my brother in law is an amazing helpful guy and I thank him for letting me use his time and his hoist.
Below are some random pics I shot while doing the work including what I surmise is an original limited slip diff sticker on the rear diff that was protected through the years by the 18 inches of ziebart under body coating the original owner put on. The coating is also all stuck to the exhaust shields which is why they're half black.
