hurley-engineering.ltd.uk .. and i specifically asked for 2mm seals for the 12a..

they friggen gave me 3mm..

2mm stock, 3mm are typically done for rebuilds, because the 2mm after so many miles can wobble in the slot, so the slot is milled out to 3mm. 3mm typically provides a better seal for turbo applications, but 2mm is more than satisfactory for N/A.

WTF??? 12a's all came stock with 3mm. Maybe the 12aT's had 2mm(doubt it), but I know all of 'em over here were 3mm.

All 12A's have 3mm seals standard except for the early twin-dizzy engines which had 6mm carbon. In other words, there's no such thing as a 2mm seal for a 12A. Hurley obviously knows this.

All 86+ engines have 2mm seals. You can put 3mm seals in these engines by milling the rotors. This is often done on turbo engines for extra protection against detonation or when the apex seal slot in the rotor is worn beyond spec.

Why'd you spend $2,000 for Apex Seals? You could've gotten two rebuild kits for that.

Yeah, I won't even spend the normal amount for apex seals, that's why me and my dad are making our own! Are they ceramic? How'd you manage to spend $2000?

$638.17 is the total for a 12a rebuild kit, you could've had two and still had ~$500 left over.
