One sweet carb

I finally got some pictures of my 48 IDA installed. It looks so shiny in the engine bay. It makes the rest of the engine bay look terrible!! i need ot spend some time cleaning that up too. I also got a picture of the fuel pump install. It fits quite nicely, but it is loud as everyone has said so far! Just need to turn up the radio a bit.

As you might notice, i have zipties holding the throttle cable down. What have you guys used for a mount? I had to add a few more ties to make sure it didin't move while driving. But as of now the gas pedal is very firm.

Lastly i need to find a place to install the MSD. I'm leaning toward where the A/C pump used to be.

Did you mount the pump onto the chasis wall? DId you use any vibration damper inbetween the pump and the wall? Is the engine stockport, and what jets are you using? How is the driveability of the car now. what kind of difference did you notice with the new carb. the reason i ask is cause i have one too that i haven't installed yet.

Thanks, Matt

It's not hard to fabricate a bracket for the throttle cable. Just get creative with some aluminium. You can use one of the carb to manifold studs to hold it.

nice carb you got there!! for a quick and easy throttle bracket you could bend up a smog pump adjustment bracket, those work good if your in a hurry.. better than zip ties...
mount the msd in the coolest, dryest spot you can find..

I did mount the pump on the chasis wall. it was really the only place i could find that would mount the pump vertically. The pump doesnt' rattle, but you can hear the humm of it pumping that power to the engine. Now for the engine, it is a stockport but when i can get some more money, it will be streetport. So far the driveablility isn't bad at all, or should i say it hauls *** over the nikki!! I'm still trying to get the jets right. It starts up pretty easily, just takes a few pumps of the gas to get started. I think it was definately worth it. I want to get some more pictures, but my camera died right after teh fuel pump picture. so there will be more.

Good luck with your carb install! Just make sure you check for vaccuum leaks! Thats what was killing me!

I got the pump from Summit Racing for $60. Its a carter 7PSI high flow rotary pump. works good! The carb and manifold came from racing beat. It was about 750 for both and worth it IMO. Untuned, it has a HUGE power differnce. I can't wait to get it tuned correctly. I'm looking into getting a wideband for it to get it on the nose, but i don't know which one to get. I woudl like an indash gauge one.

If thats an over the counter IDA, you may need to add progression holes. Rotaries like 3 progression holes. Junk that filter below the large brass nut. When you wanna play with that carb, let me know.

For linkage holder, you can use a smog pump or alternator bracket. Or make something like this

I think cb performance has a write up on adding a third progression hole. It makes street driving a hell of a lot better. The whole process is real easy. All you have to do is shine a light down the throat and see where the other two are and drill the third. You will have to take the carb back off though. The carbs are just on or off with out it.

nice setup

yup. they come with 37, 125 mains, and 130 air i think, and 70F10 idle jets.. you'll have to buy some bigger main and air jets. so far the idle jets are fine. I got mine from CB Performance for 3.95 a piece. Its better than the 8 something from mazdatrix.

The only thing that I dont like about IDA is on a "top-pull" set-up. Too much work to make a linkage on the other side for OMP.
