One Piece 12a Apex seal?

Stock 12a apex seals are 2-piece electron-hardend steel, but 3-piece seals existed at one point, and 1-piece race seals are common (though they work poorly when cold)
I'm not sure if a one piece metal seal would work - - thermal expansion would probably kill ya, unless you left so much end clearance that you'd have zero compression cold. The main reason for the short corner stock piece is to allow for thermal expansion of the main piece.
But that's just guessing.
