ohhhh!!! i figured out what you were talkin about now. me and my dad were discussing about this and looked at the pictures and we think that you think i am missing a spring and another washer is because of the displacement shown on the lower part of my linkage rod. i should have said that the linkage rod is disconnected in the pictures. i bent it back straight today and connected the linkage rod to the carb and it has no displacement between at all and it lifts when the leverage on the carb pushes. i didnt see it lift when i turned on the car.. im not sure how the carb will lift it.. pressure? i didnt let the car idle that long because from all the grease/oil/engine brite degreaser on my exhaust manifold it was smoking from the start and worsening fast. but i didnt see any leaks so far and hope it stays that way and now i am cleaning the exh manifold heat shield by soaking it in gasoline. sorry for the confusion guys. btw using lucas is safe for the small omp lines/omp oil entrance right? just confirming.

hey blwfly no problem i will post some pictures of my omp for ya. ther is not spring on the linkage rod. theres a spring on the part where the bolt goes for the plate that holds the linkage rod. i suck at explaining but i hope u understood. ill take pictrures to claify. also theres a spring on a leverage thingy on the carb that connects the the throttle plate i think and opens up when the secondaries are activated haha i think i said that wrong but i hope you got the idea and when the secondaries open then it also opens the omp to let oil in. ahh picture stomorrow when theres sun! SUN! fo rthe whole weekend! first time this year in cali!

Ok. I had a brain fart. Went back and looked in the 85 FSM, and you are correct, there is no spring where I thought there was one. When you get everything hooked back up, the clearance between the bottom washer on the mop rod and the mop lever arm should be 0-1mm. That measument is taken with the engine off.

Sorry for the confusion. Now I will be racking my brain trying to figure out why I thought there was a spring there and what I have mentally cross indexed it with.

^^ hey we all have our moments where we think something should be there but its not. kinda like when i lose my keys or cell phone.. drives me crazy.. still havent found my original rx-7 keys yet. dam. ANYWAYS my omp still leaks. i found that out last week and confirmed it yesterday. took out air pump, coolant hose, air filter housing, and got busy. i tightend the bottom bolt first because i can use a socket wrench (slipped few times and stripped the bolt a little a because i didnt take out air pump and lower coolant hose). then the top bolt doesnt have enough room so i had to use a little 10 mm wrench. stripped the hell out of that bolt that it cant be torqued anymore. well i hope i can still get the bolts off. oh yea i also dropped the air pump because i put it on the grill panel thing for the wipers and it fell onto my concrete driveway and broke off a mount for the upper screw. well i guess its time for junkyard scavenging to get me an air pump and omp bolts.. maybe some omp lines too just in case. that is why i felt like tightening the omp bolts some more to hopefuly stop the leak. i dont think it worked because i idled the engine for a few minutes and a little oil appeared. please inform me of torque specs kuz i think the paper gasket is no good or something.
