Old KYB adjustable front struts

Anyone have any experience with the old KYB shocks? These look like they are adjustable but I really done know. I would think that I could adjust in to get it tighter & loosen out to get it bouncier.

Anyine have any dealings with these? These were on my '85 GSL.

Is the nut at the top of the cylinder just holding it all together? It uses a motorcycle style spanner wrench to turn it.

I haven't messed with it but so should I see no threads? Should I crank it on down?

The fitting you see at the top of strut tube holds the strut insert or guts in strut housing, that is its only function. Should only be loosened with spring removed from strut to replace cartridge/insert inside-it is not an adjustment, adjustable.
