Those little solenoids? Yeah, those break real easy, don't they. I don't know how much they cost, last time I broke one I just grabbed another one from a spare rack that I had.

The solenoids do various things varying with the model year; the main things are vacuum advance, deceleration shiznit, ac if you have it, the pcv system, etc.. you can always check your Haynes manual for the specifics of what you broke. Personally I'd rather either have it all working right or ditch it entirely - if you want to replace it your best bet is to hit a junkyard or find someone on here with a spare.

Is it is one of the color coded ones???
If it is, yank the whole kit-and-kaboodle. It's emmisions equipment and as long as you don't live in an emissions controlled state, it's not worth having.

Where in Indiana do you live?? I'm in Louisville. You a member of the Kentuckiana Rx-7 club?? If you need help with the engine, let me know. I'm sure I could lend a hand. And as for the emmissions garbage, just rip it off. Did mine last weekend and the car is much happier.

rx-7 girl If I were you I would go to the local junkyard and pick up another, or even a whole new set. I don't have emissions testing but I think I will leave mine on because I don't wanna blow huge amounts of smog out the the tailpipe. I also have an idea for a highflow presilencer that acts as a catylitic converter. I will make it a separate thread though.

i have. its not that hard. the fittings on the hoses are tough to break loose on some and the cast iron mount takes some ingenious manipulation of the socket wrench. all'n'all it took me maybe an hour to get it off and that was blabbing while i was working. you will dump a lot of weight and free up a large area in the drivers side of the bay.

if you donot run your a/c then it is definatly worth taking off. more so than the wieght reduction, by taking the a/c off you will reduce drag on the crank, and thus more power...

There's only drag on the system when the A/C is powered on. When it's off, all you're doing is turning a pulley - the compressor itself does not turn.

i have all the solenoids off my car and i live in Louisville. If you want, you can come get one from me. I would just reccomend ditching it all and getting a PO Box in a county with no emissions(thats what I did ) I also have removed the A/C and its really not too hard. If you want I can help you with both. Just let me know. My e-mail is CrazyJoe24v@yahoo.com
