Okay. Maybe stupid question. Do the Blower motors in these cars just suck?

I turned on the AC today on high as I drove it to get tagged. It blows cold (ish) but the airflow is almost zero. Even on high.
I see blower motors and fans are cheap, so I’m open to buying a new one, just curious if it will be any better.
a black car in Florida with no AC is hell! Even in the winter with the windows down and sunroof off.

yeah its a 1970's car, its not great. if the car has been sitting, you might pull the thing and make sure there isn't a bunch of squirrels in there

lmao thanks.
so even a new fan and motor most likely won’t help much?

I winter drove numerous FB's up here in Manitoba for many years. While the blower isn't fantastic, it should keep the car warm or cool and the windows clear. I never had a problem keeping the inside of the car warm in the winter, as long as the car started haha.

The windshield wipers, on the other hand... wow, do they ever suck. I tried everything to make them faster and high is still like mid-speed on a newer car.

The blower motors usually work pretty well and the airflow should be pretty decent. Not amazing, but enough. I would remove the blower motor and make sure there isn't a rodent nest clogging it or any of the ducting. An obstruction would definitely limit the airflow to near zero.

I had both problems and chased and chased and finally figured out the problem was a combination of old wiring, and a weak alternator. I rewired the wire that senses the battery voltage, and all of the sudden my blower blew harder, the wipers wiped faster and the lights burned brighter, even at idle.
