Stab a flathead screwdriver through the top of the filter and then pull the plug. It doesn't eliminate all the oil but a good portion of it. I stuff a couple of shop towels around it b4 I break it loose to catch the remaining oil. Works very well.

OK! anybody that calls the Rotary engine a rotax engine should be punched in the eye, and if you don't get your oil changed soon you could start having alot of problems, not just with the car but with the rest of the forum members as well. Oh and what does MMO mean? I'm sorry if that sounds like a stupid question.

I've never really had a problem with spillage. I usually just crank the engine while the last of the oil is dribbling from the pan. (Coils unplugged of course. I don't wanna run the engine without oil. On cars where disconnecting the coil would be difficult, I just start it, and run it for a second or so before switching it off.)

It gets the old oil out of the oil pump (And from inside the rotors.) As well as getting most of it out of the filter.
