Thumbs down Okay, i've been a bad boy, help!!!!

Alright, here we go. i am a lazy person. we all are! sheesh. i haven't changed my oil or gotten in changed in about 4 months. i run my car hard and long during those 4 months and i should've changed the oil 2 months ago. i know, i know. i've noticed lately that my car has been idling relatively high once it's warmed up. it has been idling about 900-1000 RPMs. eekk!! the other night i was racing a friend of mine. once from a roll and once from a stop. after the race from the stop, i was smoking black smoke bad!! oh no!!! i drove home, but as soon as i left that light, it went away. hmmm...my oil pressure was looking good all night long and my idle was around 8500-9000. what happened? isn;t black smoke running rich?! and white smoke is oil? help!!! oh yeah, i'm putting in my headers tonight, any suggestions or tips?!
thanks guys!
Josh

Step 3 : If your this far, you've changed the oil, otherwise repeat Step 1

You tryin' to lose your RX-7 privledges?
Keep it up, and on a dark moonless night, you'll hear the snarl of several nasty Sevens...Clink, Clank, Bronk, and by the time you get out your dreamworld your Seven will be replaced by an old Playboy mag, a six-pack of Blatz, and a beat-up Geo Metro 3-cylinder!

Repeat after me! "I, (your name), do heretofore swear and promise to change my oil and filter at least every 3000 miles.
I realize my sins and hereby repent and feel much shame. I admit my errors, know the penalties, and recognize that I'm being given a second chance by the Rotary Cowboys..."(Now, Down on one knee) "To this I do acknowledge and agree, and shall henceforth go forth, keep vehicle record, and sin no more."

Now, reward your hoss by givin 'er a full quart of MMO into the sump during your oil change, and another quart into the fuel tank.
Use a good oil filter, not "Uncle Wally's Wear-Forever Two Buck Special!

Learn to Love the Dark-side (undercarriage). After all, it's truly where the action takes place!

A smack on the head with the Stetson,
Denny, from the corncrib....

that sounds like alot of MMO. wouldnt that displace something. and ifthe amount is correct/best for the engine, would this be done at every oil change. Or only on special circumstances. Like not changing your oil.

I usually put 1 qt of MMO in the sump along wiht 20w50.

1 qt in the gas is a bit excessive, but it'll clena up his apex seals.

Half a quart in the tank regularly.

Max,
Your sig explains it all. That's good that you think no harm is done..... it'll quit runnin' soon and you'll know why.

I'm SURE you are right....

for your info, that was 6 years ago.

I was 14 years old, my dad's car. He is not a maintance buff "if it ain't broken, don't fix it".

He bought the car used and NEVER did one single maintance on the car.

When I turned 16 he gave the car to me with 180k miles, and he bought a new one. 1st thing I did was a tune-up, yes the oil was black.

The same car now has over 260k miles, runs like a champ. Original engine/clutch/tranny. How many people can say that.

All I'm saying is that oil is NOT that BID of a deal. Think about it, it is normal for the engine to consume 1 quart every 1500 miles, so you are added new oil every once and a while. As long as there is enough oil and the filter is not clogged, all is good.

A lot of the 3rd gen guys change oil before 3k miles and they have rebuilts....

It is ALL in the way you drive the car bay-bee !! and I drive it hard !!!

the throwout bearing sounds like ***, but it isn't oil related.
I'm not going to reach 500k miles. I am beating it on the weekends until it dies then I'll drop a V8 in it

I have 2 other cars.

(joking about the V8 :p)

You're a lazy bastard - changing the oil takes 15 minutes!!!!

All I'm saying is that oil is NOT that BID of a deal.
Totally wrong homeboy. Oil is the NUMBER ONE most important thing for a rotary! It's not like a piston engine - our motors use oil to lubricate the seals. When the oil gets dirty, it can't lubricate the seals properly, and plus you're injecting dirty oil inside the engine.

If you can't get off your bitch *** to change your oil, you don't deserve an RX-7.

A guy at the parts store kept calling it a rotax, also. WTH????

I corrected him twice b4 I finally said, "look, man it's not a freakin' Sea Doo jet ski." He shut up after that.
