Ok you know it all audio guys... this is for you.
I just got the Kenwood 5 1/4 Excellon spakers with tweeters. yquestion is at what angle would be the best sound rom th tweets. Flush in the dash pointing straight up, on top of the dash strait up, or on top of the dash at a 80 deg angle pointing into the cab, or on top of the dash at about a 20 degree angle pointing into the cab. Or shoul I aim them at thewindow?
Right now I hve them stuck on the dash pointing in at the 80 degree angle and it sounds a HELL of a lot better than it did without them. the 5 1/4's are in the stock front mmounting point. took a bit of creative ust of a abre saw, but everythning sounds nice and happy... but i want the most from my tweets. this s the firt time ive ever messed with them in 27 years.

I recommend you have a friend help you, and play with the locations (while holding the tweeter in hand) until you get the right sound you like.
Nobody can tell you what you do or do not like.
It's simply a matter of taste.
One recommendation, make sure they point to a position no higher than you neck/shoulders. Otherwise, after a while the tweets near your ears will drive you crazy (with headaches).

Best place for tweeters is in the middle of your round air vents on either side of the front dash
I have a set running thru the vents in the rear near the rear speakers as well, works well

The one thing everyone is missing concerns only those interested in a true SQL car. The tweeter for each side should not be more than 6" away from the speaker on each side that is generating vocals for your car. The imaging of your front soundstage will not be as clearcut if this "rule" is violated. Believe it or not, your ears and brain can pick up the .5 microsecond in difference of time it takes for a sound wave to come from two different spots and reacts accordingly trying to lock down the different locations...

Here is a thread from a while back. It has a bunch of very good info.

so would door mounted pod speakers sound better? how would one go about making the pods? especially if they have manual windows? the rule of thumb i've always used is to point the driver's side speakers at the passenger's head and vice versa.

aha! you posted while i was still typing... i'll go check. as far as the distance thing is concerned, i've always been told that the sound can be cleaned up somewhat by the aiming. the off axis sound of a speaker(nearest) is offset by the onaxis sound of the other speaker(farthest). but i'll check the other thread too....

Id recommend putting them in the vents, cuz who gives a **** about the passenger
Plus they are hidden and someone would be ******* wont be able to walk by and say Humm? I like them...
Here is another option...pretty labor intensive, though because of all the metal that gets cut to stuff the 6.5" 2ways and the 4" sub in there...

I'm rethinking my ribbons which is why there's a big square hole near the top of the door panel...
