Ok I need to do something to my carb. Weber 48IDA

I stupidly let my car I purchased almost 2 years ago sit...for almost 2 years. I tried to run it over the summer, but it wouldn't go. I'm thinking the best thing to do is remove my weber carb and clean it, and replace the fuel filter and try again. It wasn't seeming to get any gas at all.

Would I just need to clean it out thoroughly, or should I rebuild it. Would gaskets be done in it from sitting almost 2 years?

Also, it always had a leak at the intake. Since this is a streetported motor with an aftermarket intake, could I still use the factory intake gasket from mazda, or do I need to do something custom? And what about the O Rings?

Thanks for any help. Been a while since I've been on these forums.

drain the gas in the gas tank. Change fuel filter and disco the gas lines at the tank and at the carb and blow em out with compressed air. Lettin ur car sit that long is big no no hah. Ide start there. Did u check to see if the fuel pump is working (take the gas line off and let it drain into a cup when u blip the key)

Ok, I finally got around to getting a new battery, i pulled the plugs, and 3 nice swoosh pulse sounds on each rotor (all even), and confirmed I have spark.

I pulled the fuel filter, and gas poured out...it looked old, so I'm going to replace that.

I would blip the key, and even turn the motor over, and no gas coming from the line (from the fuel pump). I had someone else turn the key to on position several times while I physically had my hand on the fuel pump and didn't feel any vibrations or hear anything. So I'm guessing its no good? Should I be able to hear/feel it if its working?

Have you checked to make sure that power is getting to the fuel pump? if it is getting power and still won't come on a new one is in order, you should be able to hear/feel it when it comes on.

ok so the fuel pump doesn't work then because yes there was power going to it, and i couldn't hear it or feel it vibrating when we turned the key to the on position.

time to look for an aftermarket fuel pump, because from what i understand, my setup needs more fuel (12a streetport with weber 48ida carb)

Weber IDA likes plenty of volume, make sure you don't go over 5 psi though.
