I really cant tell what this is, and the only thing i can think it might be is and oil injection system. its got one tube going out of it which looks to be going either to the carb or underneath of it.

has anyone seen this?
can anyone shed some light on it?

 

its the sub zero starting fluid reservoir. It basically injects coolant into the carb when its cold outside to help build compression to make starting easier. If you don't drive the car in the winter, you dont need it really.
