Oil Temperature: I feel its been covered, but I can't find it.

The search function seems to not like me today, I haven't been able to pinpoint anything today.

What I would like to know, is what is the average/normal oil temperature on a mostly stock (RB header, RB wires, K&N Filter, no rats nest, and a naked Nikki) '85 12A with an SE FMOC. I will be getting oil temp/pressure gauges (hopefully today, if I can find a place thats got them on instock close by home/work) and would like to know what temp range gauge I sould get, and know where to expect to see the needle sit.

Sorry if its been posted, but all I could find that was relative was stuff about the stock sending units and where to put aftermarket units, not quite what I'm lookin for.

Mine never goes much higher than 180, typically hovers around 160 or so, lower this time of year. The autometer cobalt gauge I have starts at 140, in my opinion it should start lower, like 100 or 120, that would be of more use.

remember,

the rotary design allows for a lot of heat to be rejected out via the oil cooler, the cooler you can keep it oil wise (larger coolers) the lower your water temps will be also. your oil will last longer, stay cleaner, and do a better job of protecting your .....flux capacitors......
