Oil Temp Sender

Just bought an oil temperature gauge for my car, and I am looking at where to put the temp sender. So far, my reasearch has found a couple of options:

1. Oil Drain Plug: Seems cheesy, don't want to go there.
2. Replace Sub-zero temp sender: I kinda like this idea, since I don't have the sub zero system anymore.
3. T in where the oil pressure sensor is. Not sure about flow to this area.

So, I would like to open a debate. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each location? What kind of temps should I expect in each location? Are there any other locations I should be thinking about?

Thanks!

get the RB block or the oil filter pedestal from RX7Store (I think). There was a thread on this a week ago.

Mazdatrix carries a spin-on adaptor that screws onto the factory oil-filter pedestol.... then you would spin the oil filter on top of the adaptor.

Looks like it gives you 2 oil-ports to use for gauge (or super-charger/turbo lubrication) application

Sure, RB pedistal = $50 us. Plus shipping, plus I have to get a sender

A sender that goes in the sub zero hole = $15 canadian.

The other set up is like so:

I just don't want to buy a $(50×1.22)=$61 pedistal to mount my $15 sender to feed info to my $20 gauge. So, any thoughts on THESE set ups?

Oilpan mount will give you the HIGHEST oil temps. But it wont really tell you anything about how well the oil cooler is working.
I have my sender in a RB block under the filter. Its really the best way to go since the passages are large enough to allow the probe to be in the oil's path, but without being a hinderance to flow.
