on the sender unit for the oil pressure gauge it has a slide on type plug that swivels. you might have pulled it out by accident when you yanked the spark plug wire.

Even if it's still on, pull it off and check for any damage to the wire, broken or maybe dirt, corrostion. The sender is located close to your oil filter mounted on the side of the engine.

man i'm having the same problem. i took my dellorto off to adjust my accelerator pump linkage and pinched the oil pressure wire (brown w/yellow trace) between the air filter mount and the raised section on the intermediate housing. it grounded out and pegged the gauge. i pulled the carb off again and replaced the wire with a new one soldering it in place and it has never been right since. i can tell you that there is a silver barrel that is also connected to the same wire and it is located on uner the bolt that holds the flywheel access panel in place on the top of the motor near the oil filter. it is a condensor. i have no idea what it does as when i converted my 12A to a 13B 4prt streetport, it broke off. i had no ill effects until i pinched the wire though. i fought it all day today by removing the wire completely and running a new one from the sending unit (even replaced that 5X) to the C17 connector (smaller one under the windshield washer resevoir, near the main engine harness but seems to run towards the front of the car instead of into the car with the engine harness) and still no luck. even found a few of the condensor thingies and replaced them....nothing. replaced the gauge in the intrsument cluster.....no dice. **** it- i'm gonna put a manual gauge in there. i tested it with a pressure tester and had normal pressure like i did before the wire damage. one of lifes little mysteries.......kinda like when am i going to have the money to finish my FD rebuild/single conversion project......and my GSL-SE restoration.........and build my bridgeport that is sitting in my shed for my GS.
