Oil pressure guage adapter/sender/wiring questions

will this sender work as long as it fits my sandwich plate? Or is there a specific one i should use?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tchlink:top:en

anybody got a wiring diagram for an oil temp and oil pressure guage?

Anybody have pics of their oil sandwich plate setup? Just curious what it's gonna look like.

If your looking at aftermarket, then you'll need an oil pedestal block or a new oil pedestal like the one's RESpeed sells. I went with the RESpeed pedestal on my 1985 GSL and replace the beehive with the pedestal and added a GSL-SE front mount oil cooler. I would suggest electrical gauges over mechanical. It's much easier to run the wires. If the gauges don't come with the sending unit, you'll need those also. I bought a set of iEquus mechanical gauges but haven't hooked them up yet. I wish I would have bought the electrical ones though.

Provided that your plate has the correct thread, it should.

Yeah i searched the thread size of the plate and oil pressure. Just wasn't sure if just anyone would work. Thanks.

Yeah I just bought a sandwich plate, I've had the guages sitting around for awhile and I'm looking at senders for oil pressure on eBay right now. My guages have wiring instructions but they're kinda hard to read.

www.iEquus.com has all of their installation manuals online. Here is one for a mechanical and electrical oil pressure gauge. This should work for almost every gauge out there. They also sell the sending units you're looking for and all the thread sizes listed.

Can anybody tell me witch wire is for the oil pressure sender? Ones brown with a yellow stripe and ones black with green.

Now using the sandwich plate on the 79 engine and the stock wire from the 83 guage cluster in my 83 body I need to plug the wire into the sender and then ground the sender to the chassis right?

K so I hooked it all up and tried both wires and got nothing. Do I need to ground the sender? Also need to put plumbers tape on the thread of the sender and the plugs. One wire is brown and yellow the other is black and green. Anybody know which one it is?

The sender does not need to be grounded. It gets it ground from being screwed in. The factory oil sending wire is the one on the bottom in the first picture you posted. Are you trying to use the factory gauge? I guess the factory sending unit was not below the oil filter. There is a location for one there. If your using an aftermarket gauge then you need to run a separate wire.
