Oil on Plugs

I am getting oil on my trailing plugs and more than likely on my leadings. At any rate the car will not start. I let it sit on Sunday after a trip to Agusta, got the cat put on.

Just another thing to add to my list of why I shouldn't own a 7. If you have any ideas let me know.... I hate to say it but if i can't get it running i'm going to just have to let both of them go.

I'd go get a set of plugs and try that first. How old are the plugs that are in it? You can get a set of champion sidefire plugs that are rotary specific. I say get those just in case that doesn't resolve your problem as they are cheap.

well after about 30 min i got it to crank. Let it idle for about 15 min and drove it to eat. I know big risk taker. But after eating it kinda fired right up.. about 10 secs of turning over it started. Is it possible that the oil pump could be faulty and letting more oil in than need be or does it normally not let any oil in when it goes bad.

Other than that with the water that was getting into the housing, guess this is the next thing, oil and all. /shrug.. will see if it starts tomorrow morning after sitting all night.

try pumping the gas a couple times before you start it. maybe holding the throttle down a little when you start.

Ok I have not tried the plugs yet. I think that I will do that today. It took me about 5 min to get it cranked today. I just keep turning it over and over. I know there is something wrong.

When it finally does start, It runs great and has power. Is it possible that the Oil Pump could be faulty and just leaking into the motor? I'm going to have to rebuild aren't I?

This is starting to get a little too depressing for me.

Are you sure it's oil? It may just be flooding and the fluid on the plugs is gas. Look at the float level watch glassed and make sure that one is not sticking. The level should be right about in the middle of the sight glass. Also take the plugs out and deflood before you try this. Spray the plugs with some brake cleaner and blow them dry before putting them back in.

it sounds to me like youre not getting enough gas. when i let my car sit for a while i would try to start it and it wouldnt start. id always instantly think it was flooding. so id go through the whole deflooding proceedure. it still wouldnt start until i tried it a few times. then i thought, maybe its not gettinge nough gas. so id pump the gas a few times or hold the throttle down a little when trying to start it and itd start evert time.

also, if it is flooding, holding the throttle all the way to the floor will allow more air in and would make starting easier.
