the FSM says something stupid like 1.8-2.2 cc/6 minutes at 2000 rpm. What a crazy way of measuring oil metering. If anyone knows anything more/different let me know.

How exactly is that crazy or stupid? The OMP flow rate is variable and based on throttle angle so that you're getting a proportionate amount of oil depending on the revs. So what the FSM is telling you is that at 2,000RPM your OMP should inject 1.8-2.2cc of oil in 6 minutes, that gives you a large enough time frame to make it measurable, but small enough not to make it ridiculous...I'm not sure whats confusing about that.

tl;dr at 2,000rpm your engine will burn about 2cc of oil in 6 minutes for a 12a, 1cc for a 13B. No there is no "1 quart per oil change" kind of label on it simply because it depends on a whole slew of factors from OMP wear to driving style.

mazda's spec for oil consumption in the owners manual is about 1000miles per quart, although it varies with age, use and mileage.

no one said it was stupid...or confusing...you should read posts before you reply to them. and in case you're new to the world, ( a lot of people are...its ok) these types of groups/forums are for helping and sharing...including thoughts. I am allowed to think it's a crazy way of measuring the oil metering, however that does not mean that I think its dumb, erroneous, or stupid. Thanks though

I didn't see the sarcasm/vent in that post, I see it now. You clearly called it stupid but as well this falls back to the sarcasm/vent. And the post originally came off as if you didn't actually understand how or why it was measured that way so that's why my "not sure what's confusing about that" was poised at the end. I was actually asking you to elaborate on what parts you seemed to find stupid or crazy so that someone could steer you back into the right direction [but again falls back to the sarcasm/vent], not to be condescending.

Twas nothing more than me not seeing your "feelings" behind the post, I hope you can see how your post as well can be misconstrued so easily.

If I didn't/don't understand something I will definitely ask, and I want to let you know I'm not here to make enemies either. I get frustrated easily when people misconstrue what I say or do. I feel that I have a decent understanding of things, and sometimes I do make people think that I have no clue when it's just purely my sarcasm/making fun.

So, I do apologize for what I responded to you with...but I do hope you found it more funny (like divin driver) than offensive

All good in the neighborhood I can see how my post might have come off as condescending so sorry if that happened, I know especially on forums text cannot always convey emotion/meaning behind what is said so that's why I usually rely on the smileys for help.

Very true. Can you take a look at my other recent topic/post...."electrical issue?" I'm searching for the cause of my power loss/performance loss problem.

Let me know what you think
