Oil leaking from carb

So I've got a large buildup of oil from underneath my carburator. I think it's coming from the little glass window at the back of the carb. I''ve taken it out all the way down to the head and I'm either going to rebuild it or buy a racing carb. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'll get pictures of this up later on this week. I'm not living at home where my car is parked anymore so it's a bit touch and go.

what head? and the glass is the viewer for the rear float bowl. has no oil. I'd check your oil metering lines and pump. rotarys run oil through the carb to burn on purpose. its put there to oil the seals.

It's not uncommon for slow fuel leaks to occur around the jet plugs below the bowl windows (and sometimes the bowl window gaskets); if the leak is slow enough, the fuel will 'boil down' to a tarry, oil-looking substance that collects dirt and congeals as it leaks down and under the bowl.

Oil leaks on the carb are restricted to the area around the OMP inlets (left side), unless it's running down from there & accumulating elsewhere. Oil goes straight into the primaries from the OMP lines.

i'm with DivinDriver on this one. i'd say take a day and clean everything thoroughly. if it truly is oil and not fuel residue, then it can only come from your OMP lines. if it turns out to be slow-leaking fuel, then rebuild the carbie so you can get acquainted with it.
