bad o rings for the oil filter pedistel (sp) you will need 4 o rings to fix it.
you can get them from; Mazda, Mazda trix, racing beat, ect. i think.

search and you will find plenty of info on it.

Looks like the dreaded O Ring Leak of Death.

But don't despair. You can PX7 the hell out of it, feed your 12A Stop Leak and things probably will be just fine.

The oil pedestal seals are cheap ($10) check mazdatrix or the dealer. Working with that B-hive is a good test of your wrenching skills.

Your pictures show oil puddled on top of the front rotor housing. Oil from the filter pedestal o-rings will not migrate that far. Clean the oil from that area, run the car and take a close look to see where exactly the oil is seeping from. My money is on the dowel there.

If you wish to re-use any part of this motor DO NOT put any sort of oil additive that boasts to stop leaks. I have pulled apart enough motors/oil coolers that had those products run through them that the mere thought now makes my eye twitch

It is a Dowel Pin Leak........

Just run it the way it is.

I ran mine for 5 and a half years that way, just replaced the engine @ 153,000..........

You wont damage anything by leaving it alone.

My 12A was still running strong after almost 250k and a wreck, so your engine might be on its last legs orit might have some life left in it still.

i do not understand what you guys are saying are thies motors not made to go past 200k or something all it is is a oil leak and a rebuild consists of putting new gaskets and o rings in so what should i start looking for, i am use to my wheller wich is a 4runner and i dont start even thinking about a bad motor until about 250k and then i just bye one that has 100k

A lot has to do with how well it was taken care of by previous owners. Mine sat for 11 years with 153K on the odo, now its got 160K (if it goes, it goes), it leaks as well and I've replaced the o-rings they're $16 for 2 rings. I'm going to have to check the dowel now.

You're comparing one of the most reliable vehicles ever produced to a rotary engine. The rotaries prior to the RX-7 didn't last near as long, maybe half. For what it is, you've got the longest lasting rotary.
