Oil leak at oil pressure sensor

Hey guys just wondering if I should just remove the gauge and then reinstall? Look at getting a new one? It is still showing pressure on the stock gauge. It's about 7 yrs old, as long as I've had on my rebuild 12a. Is any sealant or anything needed? The fsm and my Hayes manual doesn't say much about the oil pressure sensor.

I think you're referring to the oil pressure sender, the mushroom looking thing. If you are planning to reseal it, i recommend a dab of liquid teflon, i prefer that over teflon tape. Oil leak could be coming from the oil filter or oil filter o-ring pedestal also

Where the brass fitting of the mushroom thing goes into the rear iron, no sealant is usually needed. The leak you're getting could be fromt he crimped outer edge of the housing. I have one that leaks from there right now.

The other possibility is what wacky said. The filter pedestal o-rings.

I can check closer, Lloyd and I installed the pedestal 6 yrs ago along with a rb oil sandwich for my oil temp gauge, when I traded my air/ water cooler for an fc front mount oil cooler

Oh, then the sandwich thing could be leaking. I put one on Gavin's car and it was a little moist but never dripped.

Heck I thought about swapping one of those on the brown car today but the rotary gods intervened and told me to leave the current blue RB anodized adapter alone (the newer version that fits right under the filter). It has zero leaks and is being used to feed oil to a turbo from one of the fittings. The oil line is routed perfectly as it is. If I change anything, it won't fit nearly as well as it does right now. So I gotta leave it alone and buy another one.

Just the RB blue adapter on a stock oil filter pedestal strictly used so I can have an oil temp gauge, did not use the side for oil pressure (after swapping out the air to water cooler)

jeff.....i looked at it closer yesterday and there is no leak coming from the oil pressure sensor...no oil coming from around the threads..i did see some oil on the pedestal itself and just above that is the RB blue oil sandwich so I believe that is the root cause of my leak its just slowly leaking on to the oil pedestal...hmm...i'll live with it for a little bit until i get new one...unless they replace the seal?

There is an o-ring under it that might have gotten pinched during install. Mazdatrix sells it separately but you need to call to ask for it. The center bolt needs 30 foot pounds. Also use some grease on the o-ring to hold it in place so it won't get pinched. Not sure if Lloyd knew about this. I pinched an o-ring once so it can happen.

great idea, that could be it...i mean i hope they sell it, i shouldn't have to order a whole new one just for that o-ring. I also contacted racing beat.

For anyone wanting to know, found out mazdatrix does not sell the O-ring for the oil sandwich. I called racing beat and if you ordered the sandwich from them they will send you an O-ring for free. If not they are $1.50 a piece. I got two.
