oil leak fix question

oil leak fix question

The line that runs along the bottom of the engine on the drivers side and terminates near the front of the engine appears to have a slight leak, at least there is fresh oil on the bottom of the fitting when I run my finger over it. Does this have an “O” ring that should be replaced or …..? Can the line be “de-coupled” without having oil run everywhere or should it be done during an oil change after the oil has been drained?

The infamous oil cooler leak. In my experience, the only fix is to replace the crush washers. Which fitting is it leaking at exactly? If its the front fitting (where the lines terminate), DO NOT try to tighten it. You will just do more damage than good. As to your other questions, there really is no way to change any crush washers without leaking oil all over the place. Thats just the way it is.

Best thing to do is get some engine degreaser and clean off the complete area, then verify
exactly where the leak is, rx7doctor
