oil leak and exhaust problem

i recently put in a new catalytic converter cuz i fried the old one and then the other day i started leaking oil likeright off the side of the engine i dont know where or how??? but then i took it to the muffler shop cuz i lost alot of power and i fried another 150$ catalytic converter and so i had them take it off completely its nice power but i gotthe leak and i thinkit was because of the back pressure but im not sure and i dont know how to fix the leak but i went to the drag strip and was running 16.75 1/4 mile times i dont know if thats good for a stock 12a? thanx in advance

If it's leaking oil on the drivers side of the engine it is most likely the O rings under the oil cooler/heat exchanger. Cheap to fix, just a bit messy. If this is the case I suggest you replace all rubber hoses in the area. If not they will leak due to the breakdown of the rubber from your leaking oil.

Go to the dealer for the O rings, do all 4, 2 top, 2 bottom.

P.S. If the cat is a generic replacement and not factory. It will eventually fail due to the extreme heat of the rotory engine. Save the cat for emissions testing and put a straight pipe on her.

do you have an air pump? you'll keep blowing converters without the air pump and split air pipe. the air pump and split air pipe supply the converter with fresh air to clean up emissions and more importantly, to cool the converter so that it doesnt melt down. which side of the engine is the oil leak on? right side, its prob the oil metering pump. the left side could mean beehive o-rings or your oil cooler's hard line.

the oil leak is on the drivers side and well is it difficult to change em cuz i dont know much about the rotary engine but i did change the lines that go to the front mounted oil cooler i dont know if thats helpful but i put a strait pipe in there its and 83 so i have to worry about the emmissions 1 more time then im done with it being as tho its gonna be 25 years old also i wanted to ask about it smoking upon start and the 16.75 quarter mile seems kinda high what might i put in thats cheap and not too hard to do thatll give me more power

Theres how to change the O-rings, you mentioned you have a FMOC, so, its just the 2 rings under the pedestal for you.

if you have a fmoc, you may have overtightened the fittings and cracked the aluminum. that is VERY common. you may want to take the panel in front of the radiator off and see if you can see oil running out of the cooler. where is the oil under the car? front left? front, end, towards the firewall?

those are the o-rings on the top mount oil cooler, not the front mount. replace those. how bad is your leak?

Definitely leaking there, replace all 4 o-rings and the 2 crush washers. Don't get carried away when you tighten down the banjo bolt.

the picture above isnt mine its the site that one of you guys gave me. iit was for a beehive oil cooler kind i guess... so are they the problem for the whole side of the drivers side of the engine from the emissions stuff down(emmissions stuff dry) it cant be the oil cooler lines because they are at the bottom and its wet at the top so thats out ... then im still left with finding out if the o rings are rubber or what. its kinda a drive to go to a mazda dealer for me so i wanna get the right stuff

Is there oil at the 12A logo on the front housing, or is it all towards the rear of the engine. If it is only the rear, the pic you posted shows the 2 o-rings you need to replace.

Leaks at the 12A logo indicate a dowel pin leak. The pic you posted is the mount that is on all irons, from there it gets a filter pedistal mount or the beehive mount.
