PM innitab, I gave him a very detailed run-down on this very subject if you don't want to spend the $$$ for a pre-made set...I tossed my notes on the subject myself...

 

The mazdatrix ones are better. They simply bolt on.

The RB ones look cool but, you have to buy all the adapters to go from regular threads to -AN.

You can make your own A/N lines. You need to buy the hose by 5ft increments if I remember, you won't use all of it, but you can reuse the end fittings in the future and put on new lines on and them and be on your way.

Anyway, I bought some line and the fittings I need to make a 2nd gen cooler work on my car. I did some creative aluminum wielding to the cooler fitting to make it a VERY good fit in the location I have it at, anotherwards, its perfect for any '83-85 12a only. Basically the lines coming out of the cooler have elbows wielded in and the top outlet is aimed towards the 1st gen battery and the line is routed in a curve over to the front cover. Some cutting to the radiator mounting is required to get it to not rub on it. The bottom line coming from the cooler has a elbow on it also that goes straight through under the '85 radiator to the rear of the engine.

After this I did a mock up with heater hose and then cut the lines to fit the fittings at correct length. PERFECT! I will have to put pics sometime. I did this in late march.

I forgot what fittings I used, but its pretty easy for a performance shop to find what you would need to make the lines. However the Oval ends used on a 2nd gen cooler may have to be ordered from Mazdatrix if you choose to use them.

 

Newer - as in 1995 engine - yes. It did not look that way when I got it though. At all.

Brake Cleaner, Carb Cleaner, WD- and little metal polish on paper towels (it's a dispenser).

If you think that came out good, check out the Tranny!



That one had the help of a Pressure Cleaner.. It was downright NASTY when I first got it.

www.sevensonly.com is the shop that built that tube frame 3rd gen and the Pro7 1st gen I showed you at LVMS. They just made me some -10 oil cooler lines, with ready to thread in -10 fittings for the oil cooler, and simple weld in brackets to mount my Rx-4 oil cooler for about $200. -10 is NOT cheap! The oil cooler fittings don't use an adaptor, they just thread right in real nice.
