Oil cooler line swap caused moderate temp drop

As stated in the title,, my temperatures dropped from about the 40% mark to 20% mark after i replaced the short oil cooler line, It was advertised as having 33% more hose area than the OEM. Is this normal?

If you're talking about oil temps, maybe the line is more efficient at dissipating heat. The old one may have been oil soaked and acting as an insulator for the heat and or may not have been very good at dispersing the heat. Its a stretch but a temperature drop in that situation could be possible. Just likely not that large of a drop.

Now if we are referring to coolant temps, then I would say this is abnormal. Replacing one oil cooler line should not have much if an effect on coolant temps. I would ensure the connector to the coolant temp sender is clean and secure. I would also ensure the protrusion on the sender, for the connector is not bent.

To clarify the old OC line was crimped by the metal crimp that hold the line to the bung o and busted at the crimp . I also fixed my vac modulator on the trans right before the line broke and the auto trans would cause my temps to spike to 50% when the fluid was low . I will check the connector since it does have a habit to get disconected

So the temps went back up to 30% today at 80 mph extended highway driving , right back to 25% when i was city driving . Car 100% had restricted oil flow , Highway driving would always get me to 50%.

Also i checkedt he temp sensor , disconected it cleaned it and no change yesterday . It has been cool as of late (75 -8 ish). I read oil temps to affect coolant temps as the water ends up picking up the higher oil temps via the engine block . The temp sensor on the SA is on the engine itself not the rad . It picks up the coolant temp as its going out so whatever heat is being generated gets picked up. I'm just asking if lower temps should be a cause for concern really . Maybe its better to be at 50% instead of 25% . The only changes i did was the vac modulator + a quart of ATF fluid , then a week later my hose busted . and I got a new fancy hose .
