oil cooler choices...
ok, i really don't have any yards to go thru here to look for an oil cooler that isnt my "beehive" junk and most prices on the net are kinda rediculous. i'm wondering if it would be ok to go with say.... a perma cool? some universal racing oil cooler? if i'm gonna pay 100 scrilla for a damn 20 year old oil cooler, then i'd just put that money towards a brand new one with a hose kit! just wondering what my options are. thanks guys!

how does this look?
The dimentions are 10.5 inches long x 6 inches wide and 7/8 inch thick. The inlets will fit 5/16 hose and have dust caps to keep the cooler clean prior to installation.

man, i need anything that isnt the beehive. i have an 84. my cooler is leaking a bit and doesn't cool at all!!! OMG it is junk from hell. i'm just kinda on a budget and there are no rotor guys near me at all. people here in the "import" scene see my car and have no clue what is (no emblems to help them). hahaha and there are no local junk yards. i can custom make the fittings, hose setup and all that, i just need the cooler.

I've seen stock FC oil coolers going for $20-50. Don't remember where offhand, try ebay, www.fc3s.org, and www.mazdarecycling.com and this forum to get an SE or FC cooler.
Those aftermarket units I wouldn't trust. Remember this is your oil system here and any screw ups will likely cost you an engine. Also, the stock unit has a temperature regulator built into it, guess too cold of oil is not good.
If you get a used one make sure you have it cleaned and tested, again, this is your oil system. Get a piece of crap lodged inside your engine in some oil passageway and who knows whats gonna fail.
Search the forum there is lots about this topic. My preference is the SE unit but it is costly ($400 new) and hard to find. The SE unit will bolt up for an 84-85 vehicle since the attach points should be on the frame (I think). The FC unit will be much cheaper but a more difficult install and you will need to have custom oil lines made up.
