Oil change?

Hey guys!
I been changing my own oil in my piston engines for a long time.
Now i got my first RX-7 (my dream car!). It is is a 1981 Mazda RX-7 GLS with the 12A engine. Any tips on changing the oil? I notice that on the owners manual it says to punture the old filter to let it drain before taking it off, do i really need to do that?
What oil you recommend? Filter?

Also what can you tell me about the starting fluid reservoir. What is supposed to go in it?

Thanks!

There's nothing to it man. It's basically the same process as a piston engine. Puncturing the filter allows it to drain instead of pissing out everywhere when you remove it. As far as which filter, OEM is the best but any good quality filter with an anti drain-back valve will do.

No special tips, make sure the engine is warmed up just before you drail the oil. Yes it is a good idea to puncture the filter to avoid spillage.

Do a search for oil and oil filter brands. There's plenty of info on it.
