The website's getting better by the day.

From what I hear Sterling decided to go all-in and drop his other occupations in favor of doing Nikki rebuilding full time.

He's got a heck of a product that's for sure, and it's nice to see the price table clearly laid out for anyone who's curious. Turn-around times should get quicker, too

When my carb comes back from him lookin like that, I'm gonna put on some Barry White, have the table set up fith fillet mignon and some Cabernet Sauvignon, and turn the lights down low...

Then when I'm done with dinner, I'm gonna get a can of WD-40 and go to town...

on reinstalling it.

"Man, you-so-naaaaasty!"

Hey thanks for the great words of encouragement, everybody!
A special thanks to Robert; It means a lot.

BTW, that photo is pretty old. That's from 'back in the day', when Carl and I were just starting out flow testing them.
Now the AP is modded differently, the linkage is only a few pieces, and it's painted up nice with hi-temp engine paint. (No Pink Paint. Don't even ask!)

I just updated the page that photo is on, and laid out all the details done to the carburetor. The specs chart isn't up yet, and I still need to put up some pictures, but it's a tough balance between spending the time getting my site up and spending the time actually producing carburetors.
-And when I'm working on the website, this laptop becomes the "Time Vortex of Hell", I swear! Man, HOURS go by, and I'm done with like HALF a page.

Anyway, I'm ready for full impact. As Jon said, I quit my job(s) and I'm diving in head first. It's scarey, but I have a lot of support from Rx7Carl, Vipernicus, Goopy, and other friends and family. I hope I can make it as a carb dude.

Thanks everyone, and check out my site frequently for updates.

I've been to the site, and it's pretty awesome. Much like this forum, but I think it will bring in more technically oriented people, and mostly people that have been around the 7 for awhile. And if that's a pic of the old one, I can't wait to see mine when it's done. I don't care how cold it is, when it gets here it's going on, after a short photo session of course. Good luck to you Sterling, I don't see any reason your new profession shouldn't take right off.

That's not just the website, that's Sterling in general.
Both Sterling (and Mar3) are two of the original Gansta's of the 1st Gen section.

They'd just as quick rip you a new one, as quickly as they
help you resolve a technical problem.

They have no problems whatsoever in telling you what their opinion is.
Whether you asked for it or not..

I've never been anything other than helpful to anyone asking for technical advice. However, my presence has been scarce on this forum for quite some time because I don't appreciate the way people who do ask for technical advice are treated by others here.
I'm referring, of course, to new members who have just discovered the pearl that is the rotary engine. These are potential life-long rotary enthusiasts that will help keep Mazda rotary cars running, along with the following for the rotary engine, well into the future. They deserve more than the usual "Search, Noob" attitude I have seen so often on this forum, and I find it absurd that the more experienced within the rotary community would rather be cold and uninviting than to help cultivate a passion for these cars.
The cold, callous attitude, the smug confidence and the downright demeaning condescension I have witnessed here on this forum by long-time members has soured my desire to be a regular part of it. I browse the board on occasion, and help with Nikki carburetor threads when I can.

As far as me having no problem telling someone what my opinion is whether it was asked for or not, yeah, I guess you're right.
-But I usually don't until someone else demonstrates that they have no problem telling me theirs.
Whether I asked for it or not..

I hate to break in to this conversation of the forums that is way over my head since I've only been a member for a few weeks now, but i have a question.

When you remove the choke along with the emissions, will the carburetor be just set up to fast idle? I'm kind of confused on all of that. I'm new to carbureted engines let alone rotaries. Thanks

Ian.

[in the mean time on waiting for a response, looking at this website as inspired me to do a lot of research on carburetors and the nikki, so I'm off to do that. ]

Looks very professional, good luck.
So if I were to buy a carburetor from You and have it shipped to Denmark, would You need a core carb ?

My thoughts exactly Sterling. You just said what I have been wanting to tell folks who are hard on the "newbies" for a couple of years now. Good luck with the new full time business and hopefully I will be ordering a race Nikki from you in the next month or so.

Ian, the choke and fast idle are normally removed, and it's not much of a problem once the engine warms up. The engine starts fine without a choke, but a fast idle can be helpful in colder climates.
The Sterling Nikki is offered without a choke or fast idle, with both, or just with a fast idle. As the choke does present itself as an impediment to air flow, those looking for the most performance at wide open throttle will want a Nikki free of the choke.

Kim, I can certainly ship a Sterling out to Denmark, but the cost of shipping the core back to me afterwards makes my $50.00 core refund policy prohibitive. I would still need to charge you for the core.

I'm certainly happy to answer any more questions, but in accordance with forum rules here, as I am not a paying vendor, I have to ask that you email me directly or post your questions on my forum.

Thanks a lot Sterling,
I did some reading of my own as well on carburetors as a whole and went through some of the diagrams for the nikki and it makes sense. Seeing as that I live in Tennesse and our climate is nothing like NY and you're still able to cold start easily, I'll look into stripping my Nikki. Thanks for the answers.

A very happy customer.

As a "newbie" in early '06, I purchased a Sterling carb and it has performed flawlessly. Best of luck in your business! They are works of art!

Those of you who aren't familiar with Sterling, you are really missing out. I remember his original releases of the mechanical secondaries thread in the archive, along with the accelerator pump mod. It has been a while since he hit us with this idea and I think many of the new guys don't even know about it. For a while there it wouldn't be uncommon to see 2-3 threads about mech secondaries in the first gen section in a single day.

Thanks for all the learning you've done on the Nikki Dennis. And even more so thanks for not being a total @ss about the knowledge that you have worked so hard to come by. It's nice to have someone so knowledgeable who is also willing to pass that information on to others in a patient organized format...

I love what you've done with the Nikki, and the inspirations behind the mods are... inspirational. The return spring in particular was a stroke of genius. In a single shot you eliminated the corner bracket and canceled the need to have a needle nose plier or something to remove and install the main spring whenever one needs to take the top off to change air bleeds or whatever. It finds a use for the emergency return spring that would have otherwsie gone to waste, and allows for some spare main return springs to stockpile for the stock rebuilds that may need them. I've run across a few stockers with missing springs. So kudos on that.

Found the thread in the archives.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62678

Those of you newer fellas who haven't looked into doing mech secondaries before, I highly recommend it. Sterling did it for me on my first carb, and I was hooked after that. It gives you a purer sensation of what the engine is actually feeling...
