Offered this as a trade?

I was offered this as a trade for my 91 gxl turbo swap with a blown oil seal. Is it worth it? I spoke with the son (driver of the car) over the phone he says his father built the motor and also builds rotary drag cars (1st gens, rx-3, datsuns) But are all n/a. His father just got into turbos and now his son wants a turbo one.

"I have 85 mazda rx7 gs for sale car has 12a street port engine car has gsl-se rear end and wheel lug conversion with rear disc brakes engine only has 500 miles it has racing beat apex seals and springs,93 corner seals springs, 93 oil pressure regulator, 85 12a rotors that are better balanced and lighter car has brand new bearings, has brand new front main seal and rear main seal, has a used clutch masters clutch car engine housings were perfect when i put the engine together has a 5 speed transmission shifts perfect car also has racing beat intake and racing beat header with racing beat full street port exhaust including pre-silencer and car still has ac car has after market body kit but needs a paint job on the car and on the engine rebuild have reciepts for everything car doesnt come with those wheels or flip out dvd player only for more money! and also here is a list of some stuff im selling"

If you trust that the builder built a good emgine, do it. You can always do a TII swap in the new one.

If it runs strong and you like it, you got my blessing!

(looks like you might have some tire rub issues.)

How much do you like your car?

Seems like an equal trade.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I had a night to sleep on it. And I think I might just take him up on his deal. He also has offered cash plus the car now. I think they really want my car so they can rebuild it themselves. Which is good I didn't want my car going to a non-rotary person. I had a guy in town here try to sell my a 13bre I might take him up on his offer after I get this car. I used to own a 1st gen for about 3 months before I had to sell it to move here.

Ok I'm confused. He said they did something to the distributor. Removed some spring. They called it crazy timing. Not sure what that means? But other than that they used racing beat race apex seals. A aggressive street port. Brand new housing. Brand new stationary gears.

Dude! Not too bad a find. I always support anyone who keeps a first gen alive and rolling. It's a base model, but its had some descent stuff done to it. Not digging the wheels, and she definantly needs a paint job. If the body is fairly rust free, and doesn't have any structural damage. Give it a test drive, and maybe the car will make the decision for you.

We have been talking over the phone the past couple days. He said that the rims were rubbing in the front. Would that be because a wrong offset? Would I need wheel spacers? He said that the lowering springs were causing the problem. Or would putting the stock springs back one would help?

probably wrong offset but i'd say spacers would do the opposite of help (from looking at it) you may be able to machine the centres (depending on the thickness) but otherwise you may need to get them disassembled and the offset changed (assuming they are 2 piece?) looks like a good swap.. love that kit with no wing as well. keep it as is and spray it white

(that's coming from someone who thinks it's blasphemy to change a 1st gen's looks aside from rims)

they look like 0+ offset konig rewinds. and maybe 4x110 to 4x114 spacers used. because they dont make 4x110 rewinds. which explains the back sticking out too much. you need Z bubble flares btw i'd be all over this deal all day like rice and beans.

They are konig rewinds. It does have a gsl-se swap front and rear brake setup. does that mean it has a different bolt pattern to?
