O2 Sensor

Im trying to install a air/fuel guage and I dont see an O2 Sensor, im starting to think this is why im having so much trouble with my 7. I looked all over the Heat deflector (manifold) and found nothing. I then started looking for it on the Cat, but its a high flow aftermarket cat and there isnt one on there. Any other place i should look? Would this cause the car to idel ruff?

If the O2 senser is off how can i go about replacing it? can i just buy one and wire in? Also what problems would i be having with the car if its off?

Yeah, there is one more place you can look for it. An aftermarket product shop. Carbed 1st gens don't have a O2 sensor.

depends what model 1st gen you have.
If it's carbed you don't have one BUT if it's an SE then it would run rough with out it since it is FI and computer controlled.

To dispell another O2 myth, the O2 sensor comes into play with the ecu only in closed loop mode, i.e., steady state cruising. A non-op O2 sensor will have a small affect on fuel mileage, during steady cruise, and that is all. Newer ecus are are a different story, but the O2 doesn't do much on the 1st gen EFIs.

For the O2 sensor to have any affect, it would need to be a 4-5 sensor, with an ecu capable of interpreting the signal. We have neither, just a simple one wire on/off sensor.
