Numbers Guy's Rx-7
I posted awhile back on a resto project for a '79 base model, steelies 4 speed and all. Well I couldnt get them to sell so I got numbers guy's Rx-7 instead.
I am not going to do a full resto, maybe just make it look all IMSA and stuff....
I got a good painter/body man lined up to do the hard stuff, I get to do the fun part. Engine/Interior

Yeah at the risk of even being flamed here.... here is her links, this is to my cardomain, I took these myself, and they arent near as photoshopped as the ones on her so-called website. Soon the red 85 will be ready for her to pose on it.
I think its original color was silver, it has been painted black, and now red........ The paint code is covered. by red paint...... the weather stripping in the doors is painted red. The engine bay is black... but under all of the interior its silver and in alot of places were the paint is peeling it comes through in layers, red to black to silver.
I just think thats appropriate considering my 81 is dark silver. But no I already have a car with factory black interior, this will keep the factory red/tan interior. I dont mind the kit or the fact the springs are cut to lower it. I just want to clean it up. It has a beautiful girl under there thats hiding under too much make up ( trust me on that I have personal experience.... ) It has very few mechanical problems and survived the 115 mile trip home with little trouble. The only major concern I have is a buildup of white residue in the oil filler neck, I know what it is, I just cant think of it......

Nah you shouldnt get flamed, I liked her so-called website, it just need a little work that was all.
Ok enough of that.
I have seen cars with like 5 to 7 different colors on them, I just watch as it changes its kinda like fall on a car, but the end product is worth it!

No its the three piece targa band, he couldnt get the title because the last owner never mailed it to him. I dont know the specifics, but he also had a lein on the title which was cleared. I told him when we met he needed to bring the title. If he wouldnt have had it I wouldnt have gotten the car.
He used to have a snail in his avatar, yeah that was him, he changed it to guy peeing on a Honda emblem.

^ Okay, gotcha.... But today has involved removing the inoperable A/C thoroughly cleaning the interior, steam cleaning it tommorow. I will get around to a rats nest removal, and I am getting the original air cleaner lid, seeing as how the trash can lid isnt my style :P It had a fuel cutoff switch, and my buddy sat in it while I was talking to numbers guy. Well I guess he pushed the clutch and the wiring is hanging down.... he pulled a wire off of the cutoff switch.... I didnt have any idea were the wire went at the time, so I just stuck it to a power source. It was the remote wire for the switch... I tied up all the wiring today and made it pretty.
It didnt have a floor in the hatch, the thingy that covers the spare tire hole. So I cut up a piece of particle board and threw it in there. It also had the infamous shift boot problem. Where it hangs down off the trim piece. So I used clear silicone (like I did on my other 7) and attached it. Note to anyone who does that, use a TON of silicone. But it works really well, the silicone is pliable enough to give like rubber when you shift. It needs a muffler badly, the straight pipe is far to loud for my neighborhood. Other than that I am happy, its a good little car, in need of some love.

Recent progress, I figured some of you were curious about this car. Many of you didnt realize what condition it actually is in. #'s guy's pics never did it true justice. The interior is almost finished, then I will work under the hood. Before that I need to repair the fuel gauge, I beleive the ground on the sending unit is bad. That means dropping the tank. Body work must wait until the summer, unless I primer it, I hate to drive a primer car but at least it would be one color. And I also think the bodykit will have to go. Although the suspension drop can stay I suppose, never realized how good a slammed FB looked

Yeah I got to drive within that gauntlet, not fun....
I am telling you, silicone sealer WORKS! I have seen duct tape and glue etc. etc. Silicone acts as an adhesive, and yet it gives much like rubber does. So it wont dry like tape, and you wont break the seal made by glue. It is extremely durable, use a TON and I mean be liberal, use it to excess! then let it cure for 24-36 hours and voila, just like new!
A junkyard clock? looks that way, but the radio gets GREAT reception..... when the antennae is plugged in....
And now I have a beautiful interior, with a great stereo! time for the really fun stuff!
