Black/white wires are all switched 12v power They could be swapped back and forth with no difference. Those wires are actually connected together in the wiring harness. A couple pictures of the wiring might really help.

I'll double Check everything and try to nab some pictures tomorrow - hopefully i get home before it gets dark.

I haven't seen anything that looks like it's been tampered with - no butt connectors or anything , i think it was just put in the wrong spot. But we shall see!

Here's what i got.

I messed with it a little bit, and the leading is firing, the trailing is not. so the leading is firing off the trailing ignitor. so i need to switch the wires and re time it, right? and test the leading ignitor, also.

Ok, yeah, switch the harness's around until you can determine which ignitor is working/causing the problem.

So, the trailing ignitor will fire each coil, right? (when its wired that way) If thats the case, will the leading ignitor fire each if harness is switched? Odd.

no, the dizzy cap is that color normally. I'd no idea that wasn't the stock one. I'll keep working on it, lol. everything looks like it's how it should be though, doesn't it? except for the reversal of the ignitors, it seems.


my ignitors have the mitsubishi symbol one them, does that mean anything special to my work or did mitsubishi make them for the cars?

Mitsubishi is the original manufacturer. If you switch the connectors on the ignitors do the leading plugs fire or is the front ignitor dead? If the leading plugs are firing when the trailing are supposed to it would explain your pinging. Your timing would be significantly off. If you get the proper ignitor firing the proper coil/plugs you may find that the distributor is in the right place already.

ever since saturday when i was working on it, it doesn't ping anymore but it's obviously still not right without the trailing. i did find out that the coils are switched, so saturday when i have some time and daylight I'm going to screw with it until i figure out what's up for sure. I'm pretty positive the leading ignitor is dead, though.
