Carb needs adjusting / cleaning or it could be ignition related.

The carb is running too rich. IMO the reason you have to punch it to get smooth power is because the carb is getting drowned at low throttle.

three swings, and three misses.......

You have a vacuum leak. You may also have some other issues, but you won't get them solved until you fix that leak. Vacuum lines, manifold gasket, block-off plates if you have them, just start searching.

Oh, DUH!!! I totally spaced on that. Totally forgot about the whole vacuum system (I'm running a Dellorto now). That reminded me, do what Kentetsu said, but also make sure to check the vacuum diagram (on the underside of the bonnet) to make sure they are hooked up in the right spots. When I was still running my nikki, I cleaned my engine bay (took out the rats nest and scrubbed with a toothbrush) and didn't hook it back up correctly. I was having the exact same problem.

Make sure you have a fresh fuel filter and air filter in there. A clogged fuel filter could be causing the jerkiness and require you to floor it when that happens. The glowing cats could mean your airpump isn't working. If it isn't working then the cats aren't getting the oxygen they need to properly burn off the emissions.

o yea i forgot to add i have replaced the spark plugs and wires, the battery, altenator , distibiter cap, the cats are new, along with the fuel pump and filter. and i took apart the gas tank and cleaned it out (had lots of old nasty fuel in it).o and i checked the air pump its working just fine. i think i might have a little too much oil in though. p.s. also change the fuel from unleaded to regular.

Well all fuel at the gas stations is Unleaded except for Diesel obviously. Using regular probably isn't going to help at all either, so I wouldn't waste your extra pennies.

Nicely put Kentetsu, keep the noobs on the right parh.

At this point, I wouild replace all the vacuum lines. Once they begin to fail there's no point in doing only a partial repair. Even though your timing is spot on, what rpm did you check it at? If the idle is still high when checking the timing, then it's still off. The glow from the cats is most likely running lean due to the vacuum leak/s. Once those are eliminated, then check timing with idle at 750 rpm.

You didn't mention if your idle has returned to normal, if not, that's the first goal. Once there, post back.

It sounds like you may be on the right track thinking its a clog in the carby, but you won't get it cleared out with carb cleaner. You'll need to get a rebuild kit, tear it down, clean it out, and reassemble it.

But that's after you follow Trochoid's advice and go through the rest of the vacuum lines...

ok i took my 7 to a shop to get the carb cleaned and fixed since some of the parts needed to be replaced (i didnt have the tools at the time thats why i had em do it) anyways i did that and just got it going today the idles all set, its not jerking anymore, and the cats dont glow when you run it. but now i got just a little problem when i start to move i hear a loud hollow sound in the back. im sure i know what it is but it couldn't help to double check with the pro's online. thanks for everything again my cars starting to look good.

Hollow sound huh? Like maybe a whining or groaning rear end? Brake rubbing? Wheel bearing? Need a little more detail I guess.

Sorry you had to take her in, but at least you didn't get screwed over by the sound of it. Good luck.
