Not getting any fuel? 84 -SE

I bought another 84 -se, I got it started and it ran for a bit but now its not getting any fuel... Pump is ok, fuel filter is good also...I suspect its the injectors that got stuck closed. No fuel is geting past them atleast since the plugs are brand new condition even after lots of cranking. Anything i can check before i take off the RE-EGI box to get to the injectors?

Did you verify that the fuel is coming out of the fuel inlet hose on the driver's side? Just pull the hose off the nipple and crank it a bit too see if fuel is actually coming out. Check the plugs, are they wet? Is it flooded? Other conditions to describe would help out the diagnosis. How long did it run? 5 secs? 5 mins?

Yeah jimmy. back track the fuel line, from where the hose plugs into the EGI. No cranking, turn the key to the 'ON' position and can you hear the fuel gump ?
If fuel comes out the line, then it's in the EGI (IE) cloged injectors.

I kind of doubt that it's the injectors if even one was clogged the other will still work. Try the above first then you might want to check the air flow meter.

Yah i checked the fuel comming out of the pump... Un hooked it where you mentioned and also right after the fuel filter so i know its all good. The car ran for about...10 mins? It was turned on and off about 3 or 4 times (started 1st try) and then never started again after it died while running.
The plugs are 100% dry. no gas AT ALL.

You can tell if the fuel pump is working by shorting the plug by the air cleaner with a small jumper wire, the one covered with a rubber boot. Turn the ignition on, not the car and pinch the fuel lines right before the pulsation damper and if the pump is working you can feel the pulsations.
Make sure the AFM is working.

Well turns out that the injectors got clogged with the 5 year old fuel...It gummed up the injectors and they got stuck closed. I Sent them to be cleaned and now they are like new. I've drained the fuel already so a lesson for everyone....Old fuel WILL mess up your car.

hehe, my '81 had old fuel in it when I got it.... Ended up taking the entire carb apart a number of times to get it completely out of the system.

Yuck.

Glad yours was easy to take care of =)

As Hanman said, with the fuel injected system on SE's you have to short the jumper by the AFM to get the fuel pump to run without the engine running. This is to prevent high pressure (fuel injected pressures ~ 25-40psi vs. 8-10psi for carbs) from causing engine fires from ignition switch being left on.

This means that unless the engine is turning, the fuel pump will not be running UNLESS you jumper the connector by the AFT manually. This switches the fuel pump on with the ignition ON, and allows you to check fuel pressure and pump function without the engine running or cranking.

A simple jumper wire takes care of this easily - the harness you're looking for is contained in a black rubber cover. The other one (green color) is for TPS adjustment light setup and has 3 connections, vs. 2 for the fuel pump check jumper. HTH,
