not enough wires?

not enough wires?

alternator problem.. the back of the alternator i got a plug with 4 wire attachments to it.. only problem is.. only 2 wires are running to it.. could someone dig up a diagram for the wires? im lost were to find them.. it could mean the reason my alternator isint charging my battery thanks

Download the FSM for your year from the link in my sig. There are only 3 wires that go to the stock alt, a pigtail tee connector and a power wire that goes to the battery.

My S1 alt was the same, had the 4-pin plug with one or two missing - being an externally regulated model.

If you're planning on modding the car e.g. adding any electrical things like stereo amp, thermofan, etc.. you're better off upgrading the alternator to a later model internally regulated alt from e.g. s4. Can get you diagrams for the upgrade if needed, let me know.

Edit: get yourself a $20 multimeter, it's very handy for all electrical stuff and then you can test the voltage at the battery with the engine running, will determine the health of your alt
