it'll do more damage than good to your car... there's someone on the forum that has a pic of what the front end of his car looks like after having a bra on it for a long time.... the bra trapped moisture under it and rusted the paint to ****...

Yup, the Bra will crack the paint beneath, put nice rub marks in the paint under the seams and possibly rust any spots where the paint totally rubs off. Plus, they're ugly. You're better off with the scratch.

Yep, they will put marks and stuff on your rex... I'd rather let bugs and very (very, very!) small rocks hit my seven b4 i put an ugly bra on it...

While not really good for your paint, a bra does serve a useful purpose. Eventually the rock chip/bug splats build up enough to need repainting again.
As long as you take it off when it rains, or when you wash it (and once in a while for the heck of it), you can keep it from ruining the paint.
I only use mine for long highway trips, the bugs here are hell on paint jobs.
I've got some pics on my website of mine w/the bra on it...

That pic you are referring to was probably me. The previous owner had it on there and never took it off to wash underneath or when it rained. So one day after I bought the car I decided to take a look....
This is what I found...
So basically, go ahead and get one if you want, but take good care of it and underneath it. I would take the bra off my car, but I can't because of the horrid rust there. I just recently bought a new panel off ebay, so I'll be putting that one on soon...and then..the bra goes away. heh

The bra is functional (as someone has already noted). I just took a long trip and used the bra while on the highway. Once I arrived, I took it off. Takes less than 5 minutes to install or remove. They will not damage the paint if removed and cleaned everytime you wash your car. The example above (rusted hood) is not typical - that bra had to have been on their for years - use common sense and understand the purpose of the bra - it does protect against stone chips and road crap, including bugs but should be removed and cleaned. The poll, on the other hand, is for how they look....put it this way, I wouldn't put one on the car for the look but I would to protect the paint.

I owned a bra and had no problems with rust (I cleaned under it, kept things dry).
However, I must admit I much prefer the stock look over the bra look. Bras belong in the 80s... and left there

You could buy ones directly from the dealer, or aftermarket. I have a receipt from the Mazda dealer when the car was bought.
These things are lots cheaper now than they were then...
Sk8ter dude:
Thanks for the plug! As you can see, it doesn't fit perfectly over the turn and side marker lamps anymore, but looks ok on a black car. I've heard you can get them in pretty much any color you want, though you would certainly get flamed for being rice if seen by some of the members here
