The agreed consensus is that a 50-75 HP shot of juice on a 50,000 mile 12A should be OK. Make sure your fuel pump is up to the task, though. That means if it's stock or you don't know how old it is, REPLACE IT! You will lunch your engine for sure if it leans out on the juice, guaranteed. If your engine is older or with more miles, NOS is questionable.

Wouldn't it be almost or a little more expensive to get your engine ported? I am probably wrong, but I wish I had a street ported engine...

*still hoping*

I looked into gettin a 50-75 Hp shot of NOS for my 13b , it was around 500-600 CAN. I hope to sometime be able to get it but for now just not enough cash...

Do any of you know what would be better? a wet or dry shot?

ALWAYS a wet sys. and a friend put 150shot on his "beaver" (87 n/a 7) when it turned 170k and he refilled it every week. sold it.....with 218k on it it now needs oil control rings cuz the new owner ran it out of oil.

correct me if I am wrong but,

$300(used) to $600(new) NOS system.
$50 to $150 for FPR and Fuel Pump.
2 to 4 hour labor ?????

OR.....

$150 for gasket set and another $50 to $100 misc stuff for a ported motor
(assumiong ones does not need apex seals or rotor housings and ports it ones self.)or $80 for templates.
Maybe $550 to have a port professionally done and housings lapped?(is that right?)
24 (or more) hours labor ????

Hmm... it seems that NOS is not such a deal if you are not afraid of getting really into the guts of your car.

and if you do it wrong you will need a rebuild anyway

I think I'll port first.

Just my $.02
